Vietnam Gears Up to Embrace the New Year with Favorable Weather

Vietnam is set to experience dry weather and mild temperatures during New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, creating ideal conditions for outdoor activities.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has reported that northern Vietnam will witness light daytime sunshine, accompanied by fog at night and in the early morning over the next few days. However, the unfortunate drawback is that air pollution is expected to be at high levels due to a concentration of thick dust in the air.

According to the U.S. site AccuWeather, Hanoi is forecasted to have temperatures ranging from around 18-27 degrees Celsius on Sunday, with a slight drop to 16-25 degrees the following day, marking the first day of the new year. High-altitude areas like Sa Pa are predicted to experience temperatures around 10-18 degrees. The central region will see varying temperatures, with ranges of 18-25 degrees in Hue and Quang Binh during the transition to 2023-2024. Da Nang is expected to have temperatures between 19-22 degrees, while Phan Thiet and Quy Nhon will experience warmer temperatures at 28-31 degrees.

In specific regions like Quang Binh and Quang Ngai, there will be rainfall during the night and early morning, adding a touch of variety to the overall weather conditions.

It's worth noting that this year has seen the occurrence of notable temperature records. On May 7, Vietnam recorded its hottest day, reaching 44.2 degrees Celsius in Nghe An Province in north-central Vietnam. The previous day, May 6, ranked second with a temperature of 44.1 degrees measured at a station in neighboring Thanh Hoa Province. The severe heat waves experienced in the first five months led to the drying up of rivers in northern Vietnam, compelling major hydropower plants to reduce operations and resulting in power shortages.
